Muchas Gracias, Merci Beaucoup...and a How-To

WOW. That's all I can say. Well, that and THANK YOU to all the awesome peeps in blogland who commented about and featured some of my most favorite projects!

A HUGE thank you to Roeshel at The DIY Showoff who got the blog love rolling when she featured my wood pallet mirror, the magical powers of paint in my master bedroom and dresser redo, and board & batten wall treatment.

From there, Denise featured my mirror project on her blog, Extreme Personal Measures. Muchas gracias and merci beaucoup to you too Denise!

And now, because of their support and kind words, I've gained quite a few new friends here at Storm Cloud Nine - Welcome! and thanks for coming along on this ride :)

And now friends, without further ado, we're moving right along to my how-to post regarding the master bedroom gallery wall I showed you last week:

Here's what my pile of frames looked like after arranging all the photos inside them and Mod Podging a few onto plaques:

I sorted through my pile and started laying them out on the bed, while looking up at the wall, envisioning what I wanted my finished product to be:

Here's what my final draft of a layout looked like:

Then, with the help of my patient hubby, we figured out the middle as our starting point and he helped me eye ball distances between the frames while I marked the spots with a pencil and then hammered in the nails.

We used that method frame by frame, one at a time...

...until we had this! TADDA! (she says as she does her best Vanna White immitation, while Winston looks at Mike wondering what all the fuss is about).

So that's how we mixed and matched some cute black and white photos with other do-dads and favorite things to create a fun and interesting statement on a large expanse of wall. It makes our bedroom a cozier, more personal space.

It's the last thing I look at going to bed, and the first thing I look at when I wake up - well, aside from my wretched alarm clock :/ - and it makes me smile EVERY time :)

Thanks for checkin in folks, and remember to:

HAPPY TUESDAY TO YOU!

  1. I really do love the way it turned out. Did you have any "oops" with the hammering? Just curious...

  2. Hi Sarah - thanks! I did have 2 "oopsies" where I misplaced the nails, haha. To fix the one, I left the nail in the wall and just repositioned the sawtooth hanger on the back of the frame (one of the ones I'd put on myself anyway) so it hung higher, and that worked perfectly. For the second oopsie, I renailed it an inch to the left where it needed to be. The original hole is still there but it's totally covered by the frame. One of these days I'll get around to patching it :)
